📖 Tutorial
Tax Configuration
Navigate to Store Portal - [Settings] - [Taxes Settings].
The default tax rate will be applied to all items unless otherwise stated. If you want to modify tax rates for certain items, click [+ Add Taxes] and input a different name and tax rate.
For customers residing in California:
If to-go items have a different tax rate for certain states, please check the [To-Go Tax Rate] box and enter the applicable rate.
Use the red button on the right to delete a tax setting. Please note that the first tax item or any tax item currently in use cannot be deleted
Combined Taxes
For easier tax reporting, you can also choose to break down your taxes. Take the city of New Orleans for example, instead of applying one sales tax of 9.45%, you could choose to have two default tax rates (State sales tax of 4.45% and New Orleans Parish of 5%).
Binding Tax Rate to Category
Navigate to Store Portal - [Menu] - [Categories] - [Edit Category], then choose the corresponding category.
The default tax rate will be applied to all categories unless otherwise indicated.
For special tax rates, click on [Special] and apply multiple taxes.
Tax Calculation Standards
All tax collections are rounded up to two decimal places. For example, if the item price is $6.75 and the default tax rate is 6%, the tax calculation is $6.75 * 6% = $0.405. The system will round up and collect $0.41 in tax.
When an item has multiple taxes, the tax rates are added together before multiplying by the item price. For example, if the item price is $6.75, there are two tax rates: state tax at 10% and city tax at 1.5% (the combined tax rate is 11.5%). The tax calculation is $6.75 * (1.5% + 10%) = $6.75 * 11.5% = $0.77625. The system will round up and collect $0.78 in tax.
