When several people order together at the counter, or a to-go order has to be bagged per person, it helps to know which item belongs to whom. Seat numbers let your team tag each item in a Quick Service order with a seat, so the kitchen and the packing station can tell the guests apart.
Seat numbers are off by default in Quick Service, and the setting is separate from Table Service — turning it on here does not change anything on your Table Service screens.
Where to find it
Store Portal > Settings > Order Settings > POS Order Screen tab > Quick Service card > Seat Number
How to turn on seat numbers for Quick Service
Log in to the Store Portal and go to Settings > Order Settings.
Open the POS Order Screen tab. You will see two cards: Quick Service and Table Service.
In the Quick Service card, switch Seat Number on. An optional Always apply seat numbers checkbox appears next to it; it is unchecked by default.
Click [Save]. Your POS and Mobile POS devices pick up the new setting on the Quick Service order screen.
Using seat numbers on POS
Once the setting is on, your team can assign a seat to each item while building a Quick Service order — Seat 1, Seat 2, Seat 3 and so on, plus Share for anything the table is splitting.
On kitchen tickets and kitchen displays
Items are grouped by seat on the kitchen ticket and on the kitchen display, so the kitchen can plate and hand off one guest at a time, and your team can bag a to-go order per person without having to remember who ordered what.
Good to know
Quick Service and Table Service are configured separately. Each card has its own Seat Number switch, so you can run seat numbers in one and not the other.
The change applies to Quick Service orders started after you save. Orders that are already open are not affected.
To roll back, switch Seat Number off in the Quick Service card and save. Table Service and existing orders are untouched.
If you are rolling this out across several locations, it is worth turning it on in one store first and letting the team try it for a few shifts.
