💵 Getting Started - Cash Management

Updated yesterday

Cash Management is a core feature in daily restaurant operations and requires strong oversight to ensure accuracy and accountability.
Peblla provides built-in tools to help you track, manage, and reconcile cash efficiently.

This article walks you through all cash-related settings and procedures, so your team can stay organized, reduce errors, and maintain clear visibility into cash activity.

Step 1: Set up Cash Drawers

Peblla cash drawers are linked directly to POS stations. For each POS at your store, you must first determine whether:

  • A physical cash drawer is attached, or

  • Cash is carried and managed by servers

This setup ensures cash activity is tracked correctly at the station level.

Step 2: Assign Cash-Related Permissions

To maintain strict access control, ensure managers and staff are assigned the appropriate permissions for cash handling and reporting. There are permissions related to cash drawer management:

  • POS Permission Groups -POS Cash Report - View Cash Report

  • POS Permission Groups - Operational Permissions - Open Cash Drawer (Cash Payment)

  • POS Permission Groups - Operational Permissions - Open Cash Drawer (No Sale)

FAQ

Can I use the cash drawer without recording detailed cash transactions?

Yes. If your restaurant does not require strict cash management, you may use the No Sale function to open the cash drawer without recording a cash transaction.

  • No Sale opens the cash drawer without adding or removing cash from the drawer balance

  • No cash-in or cash-out amount is recorded

  • The action of opening the cash drawer is always logged for audit and tracking purposes

This allows basic drawer access while still maintaining visibility into when and how often the drawer is opened. While No Sale provides flexibility, we recommend using full cash operations (Cash In, Cash Out, Pay Out, Tip Out) whenever possible for accurate reporting and reconciliation.

How many active cash drawers can a store have?

Each POS can have one Active cash drawer at a time.
If your store has multiple POS devices, each POS may have its own active drawer.

Can I edit or delete cash records?

No. Cash records cannot be edited or deleted after they are created.
This ensures audit accuracy and data integrity.

What happens if the POS goes offline?

Cash operations performed offline will be saved locally and synced automatically once the POS reconnects to the internet.

Why does my drawer show a cash overage or shortage?

Overages or shortages occur when the actual counted cash does not match the expected cash calculated by the system.
Common causes include:

  • Missed cash operations

  • Incorrect cash counting

  • Unrecorded payouts or tips

Where can I review historical cash activity?

You can review all historical cash activity in:

  • Cash Report on the POS

  • Store Portal → Reports → Cash Management → Cash Drawer History
