When guests change seats, or a party at one table joins another, you can move whole orders between tables directly on the Table Layout with [Move Order]. You can move one or several orders at once, place them on an empty table, merge them into an order already on the destination table, or keep them as separate orders.
Before you start:
Move Order is available for Table Service orders only.
It moves whole orders, not individual items.
Your permission group needs the Move Order permission (under POS Table Service, next to Combine Order and Change Table). If your permission group already includes both Combine Order and Change Table, Move Order was added automatically.
Orders with a balance due, or orders that are in payment, can't be moved and can't be merged into. Held orders can be moved as usual.
[Combine Order], [Split Order] and [Change Table] under [Edit Order] are still available.
📖 Tutorial
Step 1: Select the orders to move
On the Table Layout, tap [Move Order] on the right side bar. The page title changes to Move Order, and the left panel shows "Tap a table, then select the orders to move."
Tap the table you want to move orders from:
If the table has only one order, it is selected automatically.
If the table has several orders, the list Orders at Table X appears. Select the orders you want to move.
Orders that can't be moved are greyed out and show their status.
To add orders from other tables, tap another table. You can also switch Service Area; your selections are kept. The selected orders are listed in the Moving order card with the order number, table, amount, item count, server and open time.
When you're done, tap [Next].
Step 2: Select the destination table
The panel shows "Select a destination table". Tap the table you want to move the orders to. You can switch Service Area if needed. Tables that you selected orders from can't be used as the destination.
To change your selection, tap [Back]. Your selected orders are kept and only the destination is cleared.
Step 3: Complete the move
What happens next depends on the destination table.
The destination table is empty
A confirmation appears, for example "Move Order #2 to Table A2?". Tap [Move Order] ([Move Orders] for several orders). The orders move to the table and stay separate orders, with the same order number, server and amount.
The destination table already has orders
The panel shows the orders at that table with "Select an order to merge with, or keep the order separate." Choose one of the following:
Merge: tap [Merge with Order #X] on the order you want to merge into, then tap [Merge] in the confirmation. The order on the destination table is kept (its order number, server and creation time stay the same), and the orders you moved are merged into it.
Merge & Pay: in the same confirmation, tap [Merge & Pay] to merge and go straight to the payment page of the merged order.
Keep as a separate order: tap [Keep as Separate Order] ([Keep as Separate Orders] for several orders), then confirm with [Move Order]. The orders move to the table without merging.
Note:
When orders are merged, order discounts and member info are lost, except for item discounts. A reservation deposit can't be applied after orders are merged.
If all orders on the destination table have a balance due or are in payment, you can't merge into them. You'll see "No orders available to merge. You can keep the selected orders separate."
Merging into another employee's order follows your existing permission for working with other employees' orders.
After moving, merging or keeping orders separate, you return to the Table Layout. Only [Merge & Pay] takes you to the payment page.
Example
You select Order #2 at Table A1 and Order #6 at Table B1, then choose Table A2 as the destination:
If Table A2 is empty, Table A2 now has Order #2 and Order #6 as separate orders.
If Table A2 has Order #4 and you merge, Table A2 has one order, Order #4, containing all the items.
If Table A2 has Order #4 and you keep them separate, Table A2 has Order #2, Order #6 and Order #4.
Cancel or refresh
To leave without moving anything, tap [Cancel] on the right side of the Move Order page. Your selections are cleared. Moves you have already completed are not undone.
If you see "This table or order is no longer available. Refresh and try again.", the table or order changed on another device. Nothing was moved. Tap [Refresh] and select again.
❓ FAQ
Which order is kept when I merge?
With Move Order, the order on the destination table is kept and the orders you move are merged into it. This is the opposite of [Combine Order] under [Edit Order], which keeps the order you currently have open. Before you merge, choose the table whose order number and server you want to keep as the destination.
Can I move a single item to another table?
No. Move Order moves whole orders. To split items into a separate order first, use [Split Order] under [Edit Order].
Does Move Order change my table layout?
No. It only moves orders between tables. Your tables and layout stay the same.
